E3 2011: Halo 4

So, um; Halo 4 then. Apparently that’s a thing that’s happening? I suppose Microsoft weren’t going to let this franchise “end” as such, but to come out the gates so strongly after original developer Bungie leaves the franchise, with a full numbered title, promising a new trilogy? Gosh, I don’t know what to make of that.

Here is, basically, what we know.

“Halo 4 is the next blockbuster installment in the iconic franchise that’s shaped entertainment history and defined a decade of gaming. Set in the aftermath of Halo 3, Master Chief returns to confront his own destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe. Halo 4 marks the start of a new trilogy that begins with its release in 2012.”

I mean… that’s it. That’s basically what we know. Oh, we also have this teaser trailer:

That just sets up more questions than answers, really. It has to be said that it didn’t go down as well as I think that Microsoft hoped at their E3 presentation; they ended on it and I think most people were just like “huh?” than anything else.
